Permit Advisors was hired by Westfield in 2016 to support in its major expansion of the Century City Mall. The expansions, valued at $1 billion, added over 420,000 sq. ft. of retail space. In addition, the expansions included doubling the parking deck to 4,700 parking spaces, adding an outdoor atrium capable of seating 1,000 people, and providing new VIP entrances and spaces for high-profile visitors.

Services Provided

Permit Advisors oversaw and coordinated all phases of the permitting process including building demolition, building additions, third floor additions, new parking layout, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, restrooms, stairs, kiosks, vertical transportation, offices, and temporary installments across the entire development. In addition, we managed the permitting process of each tenant build-out.

During this process, we coordinated between the Westfield Corporation, Westfield’s architects, the tenants, and the tenant’s architects. Permit Advisors operated as a hub for all essential documentation and record maintenance during the permitting process.

Outcome

Permit Advisors reduced permitting delays, negotiated lower permit fees, resolved code and logistical issues, and sped up permitting significantly. Through Permit Advisors’ support, Westfield and all tenants saved a great deal of time and money. In addition, all three grand openings were met without any permitting delays.
